For organizersFounder and investor events

Founders don’t need more small talk.

A founder looking for distribution should meet the operator who’s done it, not whoever’s nearest the drinks. Flare matches what each person needs with who can help, across the whole room, in the time it takes to order a beer.

A founder night of up to 50 costs $79.99, once. A demo day crowd of up to 250 costs $299.99.

Everyone wants the same three people

The investors get a crowd, and the operators who could actually help go unnoticed.

Time is the scarcest thing here

Founders have one evening. A polite twenty minutes with the wrong person is expensive.

Warm intros don’t scale

You know who should meet whom for ten people. You don’t for eighty.

Founders on one side, operators and investors on the other.

Each says what they need and what they can give.

Flare checks every pairing, both ways.

The right two people look up.

Questions you could use tonight.

Flare only knows what you ask. Here’s a starting template for this kind of event, and why each question is there. Copy it, then change whatever doesn’t sound like your crowd.

What your guests see when they scan in. Illustrated with this template.
  1. What would you like help with?

    Needs and offeringsHigh importanceMultiple choice

Paired with the next question, and checked in both directions.

  2. What could you help someone with?

    Ask onlyMultiple choice

The other half of the rule. Identical choices are what make the comparison work.

  3. What would you enjoy discussing?

    Shared answersNormal importanceMultiple choice

Common ground beyond the immediate ask.

This is the template in the screenshots on this page, built in the app from the Work starter.

How to build this in the appHow to write good questions

How the night runs.

You start the event from your own iPhone and put the code where guests can see it. Everything after that happens on their phones.

  1. 6:30

Doors after demo day. Founders, operators and investors scan in at the entrance.

  2. 6:50

One sentence from you: the light will find someone worth your time. Flares on.

  3. 6:55

First introductions. Quiet operators get found as often as loud investors.

  4. 7:10

After 15 minutes’ rest, people can take their next introduction.

  5. 8:30

End the event. Share totals with your cohort or sponsors, then run the same format next month.

Is it right for your event?

It tends to suit

  • Accelerator demo days and alumni nights
  • Founder dinners and investor mixers with a real mix of needs
  • Communities that repeat monthly with the same format

It’s probably not for

  • Events where the goal is meeting one named investor
  • Pitch competitions and curated one-to-ones with fixed schedules
  • Groups so small that everybody already knows everybody

What organizers ask.

All questions

Can investors be matched only with founders?
Flare doesn’t have fixed roles. If investors answer that they can help with fundraising, and founders ask for it, needs and offerings will prefer that pairing. It’s a preference that shapes ranking, not a hard rule.
Does anyone see who asked for what?
No. Guests never see each other’s answers, and you only see totals. When an introduction finishes, they’re shown something they have in common, if there is one.
Can I reuse this next month?
“Run this event again” carries over your venue, capacity and exact questions, and proposes the next monthly date. Each event has its own code, results and payment.

Try it with ten people, for free.

A rehearsal is a real event. Round up some friends, run it once, and see how it feels before you put it in front of a room.
